The exhibition “Picasso. Drawing 1903–1972”, presented by Marc Lebouc and the Galerie de l’Institut, brings together nearly seventy years of Pablo Picasso’s graphic creation. Conceived as a gentle walk through the inexhaustible richness of his drawing, it gathers a hundred works, many of which have not been seen for more than half a century. The chronological and thematic layout highlights the artist’s dazzling evolution: from the academic mastery of his early Barcelona years to the boldness of Cubism, from Surrealist experiments to the pure, distilled lines of his 1930s portraits. At the heart of this journey, the female figure, especially the beloved woman—emerges as a central motif. A significant part of the exhibition pays tribute to Jacqueline Roque, Picasso’s last wife and muse, whose portraits reveal a striking sense of intimacy. Spread across three spaces of the Galerie de l’Institut, this exceptional presentation offers 350 square meters devoted entirely to drawing, revealing a Picasso who, between virtuosity and absolute freedom of line, never ceased to reinvent himself.
